campus of Tree Rivers Community College and worship there for the next twenty months. On July 8, 1990 Pastor John Masters resigned as minister and accepted a call to St. John's Chapel in Springfield, Mo and left the day following the dedication of the new building on Sept. 16, 1990. At the dedication and Homecoming, all the past ministers were present and participated in the service. Dr. John R. Saunders delivered the Homecoming sermon. While the search committee was busy at work, two interim ministers served New Life. Rev. Stan G. Duncan, with the Christian Church Disciples of Christ, served from December of 1990 thru August 1991. Under his direction the church had it's first Seder Service. Then retired minister, Dr. Don J. W. Burkhalter from St. Louis Disciples of Christ, was interim until February 23, 1992 when the search committee completed their job. Rev. Glenn E. Davis, from the United Church of Christ, in Calument Iowa was accepted as permanent minister March 1, 1992. The men of the church started an annual Prayer Breakfast April 3, 1995 and the ladies Circle of Love began an annual Valentine Day Party. Under the direction of Rev. Davis, church pews were purchased. Rev. Davis resigned in April of 1997 to accept a pastorate with the United Church of Christ in Wright City, Mo. Rev. Charles F. Fisch from United Church of Christ served as interim minister as of June 1997. Rev Fisch brought life and diversity to Sunday morning church services. On August 17, 1997, a Mortgage Burning Celebration Service was held with Rev. Dan Hatch, (Officiating Eastern Association, Missouri Conference, the United Church of Christ). Due to the progress of the Search Committee Rev. Fisch left in May 1999. The First Sunday of June 1999 retired Baptist minister Rev. James Black served as interim pastor until first Sunday October of that year, while the permanent minister, hired in July, fulfilled his obligations in Amarillo, Texas. Rev. Dave Brummett with wife Sally, assumed his duties on Oct 3, 1999 as permanent pastor of New Life Christian Church United. Under his direction the elders assumed a more responsibility during the worship service a working evangelism committee was formed. The congregation developed a closer walk with the Lord under Rev. Brummetts' example. The congregation of New Life was called out by God, to form a church under His direction. He supplied leaders with a background in every phase of church life: from church treasurer, secretary, council chairman, committee members, teachers and a pastor with a doctorate degree. Too many unexplained things have happened to this church from the beginning until the present time to have been caused by anything other than God's guidance. God has blessed this church and He will continue to do so as long as we stay in his will.
